Every month, for a few evenings after the full moon, the waters around the Caicos Banks play host to a natural phenomenon that never ceases to delight and amaze. Thousands of glow worms emit green flashes of light in a unique mating ritual that begins shortly after sunset. Time your visit right, and you’ll have a front row seat for this stunning natural phenomenon.

Scenic Sunset Cruise: Begin your evening with a tranquil cruise along the coastline, taking in one of Providenciales’ breathtaking sunsets.Sip a glass of wine and toast to the beauty of nature in serene, unforgettable surroundings.

Glow Worm Display: Experience a dazzling natural light show as marine worms (Odontosyllis enopla), known as “glow worms” (due to the green luminescence that accompanies their spawning cycle) perform their mating ritual. The show begins when female glow worms give off pulses of pale green light as they release their eggs, which float to the surface and the males do their part (also glowing green) as they dart among the egg clusters to fertilize them. For about 15-20 minutes, the surface of the water comes alive with tiny bursts of light as a new generation is spawned.

Stargazing: As the mating ritual subsides, turn your gaze from the water to the sky above. Stretch out on deck and take in a breathtaking canopy of stars, planets, and passing satellites. It’s the perfect moment to open a stargazing app and identify your favorite constellations overhead. For astronomy enthusiasts, shooting stars are a frequent delight — and during the summer months, the Perseid meteor shower adds an extra touch of magic, running from mid-July to late August and peaking in 2025 on the evening of August 12. It’s a peaceful and awe-inspiring way to close your evening at sea.
